Raised in 1970s India in a modest household without a computer or even a phone, Sundar Pichai studied hard, moved to America, and joined Google in 2004, where he became one of its most important figures for over a decade. He invented the Chrome browser, and later oversaw all of Google’s most important products.
He is now Google’s CEO.
It’s not surprising, then, that when the leader of the world’s most important tech company was searching for an architect to design a new home for his family, he and wife Anjali Pichai selected the Bay Area’s preeminent architect of sleek, state of the art, contemporary residences, Robert Swatt of Swatt Miers.
As reported by the Los Altos Town Crier, plans for the 10,557 square foot structure were recently presented and approved by the Los Altos Hills Planning Commission. Situated on a sloped, 3.17-acre parcel for which they paid $6 million, the home will feature an infinity pool, spa, reflecting pond, elevator, gym, wine cellar, and a spacious nanny quarters (they have two children) located at basement level.
The award winning architectural firm of Swatt Miers is responsible for some of the Bay Area’s most eye-catching, sophisticated modern homes, such as Nicole Vidalakis’ stunning residence in Portola Valley, which cost $15 million to build in 2012
The Vidalakis home, situated on a 3.8 acre site, was designed to showcase the family’s extensive art collection, while fully embracing the gently sloping landscape with its beautiful pine, oak and cedar trees. As you can see in these photos, the results perfectly embody the new northern California aesthetic which merges a love for nature, art and technology.
