Let’s face it: no matter how hard you’ve tried to get that awful smell out of your bathroom or car, you just can’t seem to have it stay pleasant for more than a few hours. What’s a person to do?
Luckily, there’s one thing you can add to that foul-smelling room without ever having to walk in and hold your nose again. It’s something so simple and so amazing that you’d be embarrassed you hadn’t thought about it before.
The key to making your home smell fresh all the time is just a few simple steps away!
There’s a good chance that you’ve tried to cover up the awful smells that go hand-in-hand with a small space—like a bathroom or car—at some point recently. Sometimes no matter what you do, it seems as if the stenches only get worse and worse. Even if you try using air fresheners, the smells linger.
But just because those air fresheners aren’t getting the job done, it doesn’t mean you can’t get rid of those foul odors. It turns out there’s more than one way to get rid of those bad smells in both your home and vehicle, once and for all!
This DIY all-natural air freshener will prevent you from having to plug your nose while you step into that foul-smelling bathroom or car ever again. Best of all, it’s easy to make—and you’ve probably already got the ingredients in your home!
First, you’ll need a small bottle of essential oil and a spare clothespin. You should be sure to choose a scent that you really like, maybe something like lavender or chamomile, and that you think will help mask the odors you normally encounter.
For the next step, you’re going to take your bottle of essential oil and apply it directly to the clothespin. You want to be sure to drizzle it back and forth over the clothespin so it covers the entire thing. This way, it’ll seep into the wood and really stick!
If you’re in your home, you’re going to locate the nearest and most accessible air vent in your bathroom. It’s fine if your air vent is on the ceiling, but if you have one on the floor, it’ll be easier to replace in the future. Then, remove the vent cover.
Holding the vent cover in one hand, take the clothespin that you’ve coated with your favorite smelling essential oil and attach it to one of the bars on the inside of the cover. See how this is demonstrated below…
Be sure that your clothespin is securely fastened to the bar of the air vent cover. Then, place the cover back on top of the vent. You’ll notice that there’s already a pleasant aroma in the room and you’re not even finished yet!
The greatest part about this easy-to-make DIY air freshener is that it’s not limited to use for just your bathroom, either. Try using one in other rooms of your home or even your car. You’ll be so happy that you did!
Now, you’ll want to turn on your air or heat, depending on the season, and your bathroom will instantly smell like new. Watch how easily this DIY air freshener is to make and set up in just a matter of moments…
